702,312. Axial-flow fans. DAVIDSON & CO., Ltd., and MACFARLANE, D. May 27, 1952, No. 13409/52. Class 110 (1) In an axial-flow fan o the like, having radially disposed blades rotat ably mounted, within a casing 14, each blade comprises a fixed lead ing edge portion 12 and an angularly adjustable trailing edge portion 17 whereby the tangent angle and the blade camber may be varied Each portion 17 is at tached to the impeller hub 11 by means of a pivot pin 18 and carries a pin 20 which engages in an arcuate slot 22.- After adjustment of its angular position, portion 17 is locked in place by means of lock nuts 19, 23. Instead of forming continuations of the portions 12, as shown, the portions 17 may be staggered peripherally with respect to the portions 12. Automatic means may be provided for the simultaneous adjustment of all the portions 17. The blades may be of aerofoil or laminar cross-section. with the blade angle increasing from tip to root.
