Abstract
1527098 Semi-conductor devices HUGHES AIRCRAFT CO 2 Dec 1975 [9 Dec 1974] 49463/75 Heading H1K In a method for fabricating a driver array for a liquid crystal display comprising a plurality of field effect transistors 5, each coupled to a capacitor 6, transverse extensions 22, 28 are provided on columns 21, 27 formed in a semiconductor layer carried on an insulating substrate. The extensions 22 are then provided with source and drain regions 24, 25, and extensions 28 are provided with a metallic layer over an insulating layer to form gate electrodes 31, gate buses 32, and capacitor plates 33 contacting source regions 24. A liquid crystal material can be connected between plates 33 and earth. Alternatively the liquid crystal material may be A.C. coupled to plates 33 by placing the material in contact with a further metallic layer carried on a glass layer which covers the entire array, Fig. 7 (not shown).
