Abstract

Generating by indirect contact of steam; watertube boilers.-Steam intended particularly for driving small compound engines on steam-driven vehicles is generated in a vessel placed in the steam space of a primary steam-generator heated by a furnace. A coiled-tube generator K is arranged in the steam space of a primary generator consisting of upper and lower annular chambers C<2>, C connected by vertical watertubes C<1>. The gases are directed outwardly among the tubes by a baffle G secured around a metal ring A<4> on the bottom of the fuel hopper A. The gases may pass directly to the smoke-box H through openings A<6> in the metal ring, the passage of the gases being controlled by an annular damper L operated by a spring-piston device incommunication with the steam space of the primary generator. The fire-bars are pivoted at their ends in a hinged frame N<2>. The bars are connected by links N<5> to a rocking-bar N<6>. Specification 15011/02 is referred to.
