Abstract

1523089 Nozzles SKM 8 June 1977 [9 June 1976] 23988/77 Heading B2F A head for an electrostatic spray apparatus for paint etc., comprises a body 2 of insulating material carrying a metal nozzle 4 having an elongate outlet, a needle-shaped ionization electrode 11 which may be charged to a high D.C. potential, a field electrode 14, and a pair of coplanar sharp-pointed auxiliary, electrically floating, electrodes 17, 18, the electrodes 17, 18 being electrically connected to the nozzle and the electrodes 11, 14, being insulated therefrom. The electrodes 17, 18, extend to a position adjacent the jet discharged by the nozzle in a plane at right angle to the plane containing the electrodes 11, 14. The electrodes 11, 14 may be constituted by a single wire extending through the nozzle and body, the ends being inclined and prominent so that capacity built up, particularly when using conductive paint etc., can be safely discharged.
