Abstract
1,253,016. Spray producers. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 16 April, 1970 [24 April, 1969], No. 18198/70. Heading B2F. [Also in Division D1] Ink 3 sprayed from a nozzle 1 and electrostatically charged by the contact potential at the ink-nozzle interface, is deflected substantially sinusoidally by a deflection system consisting of two insulated wires 2 which are alternately switched to a high positive (or negative) potential and an amplifying electrode 5 at a high potential. The resultant deflected stream may be used directly to mark a moving insulated conductor 4 with bands or may pass through a displacing electrode 14 before being used for this purpose. Two of these devices may be used on opposite sides of the insulated conductor 4, longitudinally separated, for the production of complete bands. More bands may be applied using groups of nozzles with common deflection wires and individual displacing and amplifying electrodes.
