Abstract

1522404 Footwear soles SANIPED FUSSKOMFORT GmbH 8 March 1976 [17 March 1975] 09218/76 Heading A3B [Also in Division B5 Footwear, e.g. sandals of the type wherein a sole portion is conformed at its upper surface to the shape of the sole of a foot is characterised in that the sole portion comprises a bed 12 of plastics material having attached to an upper surface thereof, e.g. by friction, interlocking projections moulding or adhesives a pre-formed shape retaining top sheet 11. The top sheet, formed e.g. of wood, leather, fibrous material may be shaped by hot pressing, vacuum techniques or by coating with a liquid resin before cold pressing and is preferably provided on its underside with a reinforcing layer (not shown) e.g. of textile, glass or polyester fibre reinforced plastics material. The bed 12 formed preferably of polyurethane foam is preferably coated on externally visible surface with a material 16 e.g. of plastics. The invention extends to a method and device for producing such footwear wherein the top sheet is sandwiched at its periphery or a corresponding recess defined between opposing mould members to define part of a mould cavity wherein liquid plastics material is poured or injected to be conformed to and bonded with the top sheet.
