Conductors for electricity; guards for conductors.-An insulating guard for conductor rails of electric railways &c. comprises a cover 3 moulded from bituminous or other mouldable insulating- material and serving to protect only or mainly the upper conductor surface. Lengths of wood or other material 4 and 5, which protect the side surfaces of the rails also engage the sides of the cover 3 and prevent the flowing of the mouldable material by heat. Refined asphalt rock with the addition of bituminous oil for fluxing purposes is particularly suitable for the top cover. The parts 3, 4 and 5 may be secured to a spring clip 6 for attachment to the rail. The cover is especially suitable for " under contact " type of conductor rails such as 1. Specifications 7591/12 and 13801/12 are referred to.
