Abstract
1518257 Calcium chromite refractory DIDIERWERKE AG 20 May 1977 [20 May 1976] 21454/77 Heading C1J A process for the manufacture of a refractory material consisting mainly of calcium chromite comprises using CaO and Cr 2 O 3 (or materials producing them during firing) in stoichiometric proportions with the addition of Fe 2 O 3 (or a material producing Fe 2 O 3 during firing) in the ratio of 5-10% w/w Fe 2 O 3 for 100% w/w CaO.Cr 2 O 3 , firing the mixture at 1200-1400‹C with exclusion of oxygen or with the addition of an oxygenconsuming material (e.g. dicyandiamide), grinding the fired material to a fine particle size, mixing this material with 8-12% w/w CaO.Fe 2 O 3 referred to the mixture, optionally with the addition of a binder, pressing the mixture to form bricks or moulded components, and firing the mixture at 1700-1900‹C with exclusion of oxygen or with the addition of an oxygen-consuming substance, and optionally crushing the bricks and using the crushed material as a material for the manufacture of moulded components or bricks.
