Abstract

1517833 Commutating thyristors W ANSORGE 19 March 1976 [12 June 1975] 11273/76 Heading H2F In a circuit for selectively turning off -a plurality of thyristors 15, controlling respective loads 19, a common commutating circuit 10 comprising a source of unidirectional power such as a capacitor 14, charged from a rectifier 13, switched to a pair of commutating lines capable of being switched across each load 19 by means of a respective double-pole pair of thyristors 17, 18. The DC supply for the main thyristor 15 may be deriued from AC via transformer 5 and rectifier 6. The commutating voltage may alternatively be derived from a three-phase supply by the use of three transformers 11 feeding respective single-phase bridge rectifiers 13 (Fig. 2, not shown), the resulting D.C. supply being sufficiently smooth that capacitor 14 may be omitted.
