Abstract

151,671. Kermode, J. J. May 23, 1919. Liquid-fuel furnaces.-In a vertical steamgenerator suitable for steam lorries &c. the usual ash-pan is replaced by a depending brick-lined casing a forming with the combustion space of the boiler an enlarged combustion chamber suitable for oil burning. Over an opening a<3> in the casing a is secured an air control casing a<4> into which the burner B projects, and which is fitted with an air control valve a' so pivoted as to close when the pressure within the furnace is excessive. The oil supply is heated by steam &c. and/or by passing through a loop arranged in the flame. The draught is obtained by a steam ring in the chimney in addition to the usual exhaust nozzle.
