Abstract

1515203 Warp beam drives DENCO AG 4 June 1976 [4 June 1975] 23080/76 Heading DIE A steplessly variable-speed warp beam drive controlled by a movable back rest 18 and including a pair of split-pulleys 6, 8 is characterized in that the split-pulley system 6, 8 is capable of giving an overall speed ratio of 10:1 and that there are means 3, 4 for altering the speed at which a drive 2 from a loom or knitting machine rotates the pulley 6. In Fig. 1 the means 3, 4 is a worm and worm wheel set that may be replaced by an alternative set to effect a change in gearing in the drive to the pulley 6. In Fig. 2 the output of the split-pulley 8 drives a worm 10 that in turn drives a worm wheel 11 fast on the shaft 12 that drives the beam. The reason for this is that the worm 10 holds the wheel 11 against back rotation, due to warp tension, whilst the gear means 3, 4 is temporarily removed and replaced with fresh gear means of a different ratio. In addition the split pulley 8 is connected to the worm 10 via two pinions 30, 31 geared together. The gears 30, 31 are interchangeable. In place of the pinions 30, 31 a chain drive may be used. Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) illustrate an embodiment in which the shafts 5 and 9 of the pulleys 6 and 8 extend at right angles to the side of the machine so that the planes in which the pulleys 6 and 8 rotate are parallel to the side of the machine. This is stated to facilitate the accommodation of large diameter pulleys.
