Abstract

A multiple speed drive has a hollow shaft (1) with an eccentric bore mounted in bearings (2). A second shaft (3) is mounted eccentrically in the hollow shaft (1) in bearings (5). Several pulleys (6) are mounted on the shaft (1), other pulleys (7) being mounted on self-lubricating bearings so that they can rotate relative to the shaft (1). The pulleys (7) which are free to rotate have internally toothed rings which mesh with pinions mounted on the inner shaft (3). By correct choice of the numbers of teeth in the rings and pinions (4) the pulleys (7) rotate at different speeds and if desired in opposite direction to the driving pulley.
