Abstract
1393695 Gearing PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 26 July 1972 [29 July 1971] 34942/72 Heading F2Q A device, for moving an X-ray apparatus along a selected path, comprises a shaft 1, to which the apparatus is connected on a crank rotatable about an axis C, which axis is positioned eccentrically in a body 11, itself rotatable about a shaft having an axis B, which axis is in turn eccentric to an axis A about which a drum 3 can rotate, which drum carries the body 11 as shown. The crank is rotatable about axis C by a gear 20 which meshes with a gear 28 on a shaft rotatable about axis B through a gear 24 in mesh with a gear 25 in turn meshing with a gear 23 on a hollow shaft 15, which is rotatable about axis A and also carries a gear 22. The body 11 is rotated by a gear 18 carried thereon which gear is, through a gear 19, rotated by a gear 17 on a shaft 14 rotatable about axis A and also carrying a gear 16. The drum 3 is rotated by a toothed belt 6 which is driven by a pulley 7 rotated by a worm gear 9 itself driven by an electric motor 2 through a pulley 33. The shafts 15 and 14 are driven through gears 22 and 26 and 16 and 20 respectively, each of which is driven by a worm drive (not shown) from a shaft 32 or 31, respectively. Each of shafts 31 and 32 is driven by pulleys from the motor 2. Each pulley is connected to its respective shaft through an electromagnetic clutch, 39, 40 or 41 . By selective clutching of the pulleys and by suitably chosen gear ratios, the movement of member 1, the resultant movement due to the rotations of the various shafts about the axes A, B and C, can follow a straight line path,- a circular path, epicyclic path or other, more complex path (e.g. hypocycloid). To increase this selection of movements possible the shaft 32, which drives shaft 15, can be driven through either a pulley 37 or 38 so that its speed relative to that of shaft 31 and drum 3 may be altered from the normal (when the shafts 14 and 15 and the drum 3 rotate at the same rate).
