The present Specification also describes conveyers 14, 16 for moving the longitudinal and transverse members, stops A for locating the front end of each longitudinal member relative to the press heads 134 for forming the joints with the first transverse member, stops B for locating each transverse member relative to the press heads, stops C for locating the partially completed frame so that the transverse members are joined to the longitudinal members at the interval between stops B and C, pistons and cylinders for retracting stops A, B and C and switches L1 to L11 and associated electric relays for controlling the pneumatic and hydraulic circuits such that a succession of frames are constructed automatically. The apparatus is constructed in 2 halves, part M being movable towards and away from part R so as to enable frames of various widths to be constructed.
