1321681 Press brakes, metal sheet feeds, gauging HURCO MFG CO Inc 23 June 1970 30467/70 Headings B3B, B3E and B3W A bending, shearing or punching press comprises a fixed frame 11, Fig. 1, carrying gauging assemblies 16, 17, and 53, 54, each gauging assembly having a gauge 38 and a carriage 37, Fig. 3, reciprocable by a cylinder 44 on guide rods 27U, 27L towards and away from a reference line associated with tools 13, 14, manual switches 109, 106 and 107 for respectively setting the desired dimensions, gauge and operating sequence, a first limit switch LS1, Fig. 1, for sensing the completion of a cycle, second and third limit switches (LS2 and LS3, Fig. 5, not shown) for sensing the presence of a gauge in a reference position, and control means connected to the limit switches and manual switches to control the drive of the cylinders 44 in accordance with the setting of the switches. In operation the carriages of the gauging assemblies, e.g. 16 and 17, can be moved in the direction of arrow 47, Fig. 1, by moving cylinders 44 towards the tools, sprockets 64, Figs. 2 and 3, fixed relative to cylinders 44, have chains 69 passed around them, one end of the chains being fixed to end plates 22 of assemblies 16, 17 while the other end of the chains are fixed to carriages 37. The movement of the cylinders 44 in the direction of arrow 47 is passed by sprockets 64 and chains 69 to the carriages 37 which move toward the tools. Movement in the opposite direction 46 is effected by reversing the movement of cylinder 44 using sprockets 63 and chains 66, Fig. 2. Hydraulic circuits governing the movement of the cylinder, 44 are described (Figs. 4 and 6, not shown).
