Abstract

1512343 Locks ENGINEERING SYSTEMS CORP 24 Feb 1976 [14 Aug 1975] 7148/76 Heading E2A [Also in Division G4] An alarm device for indicating theft of a portable article, e.g. a pair of skis, (see Division G4) includes means for attaching the device to the article, which means include a pair of pivotable clamping jaws 19, 21, the jaw 21 being only pivoted on one side of the housing 12 of the device and the jaw 19 being mounted on a shaft 28 which slidably projects from the other side of the housing and which is rotatable about its own axis. As shown in Figs. 5 and 7, the shaft 28 has ratchet teeth 42 which can be engaged by the end 61 of a pawl 55 to retain the shaft in a desired axial position. The pawl 55 is attached to a pivotable plate 62 which is biassed by a spring 63 so that the pawl end 61 engages the ratchet teeth and which can be rotated to disengage the pawl end 61 from the ratchet teeth by rotation of a key operated lock 17, Fig. 8.
