Abstract

1497750 Safety belt reel H D ADOMEIT 4 July 1975 [9 July 1974] 128294/75 Heading A3V An automatic seat belt 1 passes between clamping surfaces 8, one on a housing 24 and the other on a lever 4 pivoted at 7 to the housing, a resilient member 6 urging the lever in a direction to part the surfaces 8. The belt runs as shown from a reel provided with a ratchet wheel (11, Fig. 4 not shown); a pawl (10a) is stated to be operable by an acceleration conscious device (9) to engage the ratchet wheel and arrest the reel. In another embodiment (Fig. 5 not shown) the clamping device is positioned remotely from the reel.
