Abstract

1,216,225. Ratchets. UNIVERSAL OIL PRODUCTS CO. 24 April, 1969 [14 May, 1968], No. 22758/68. Heading B3N. A manually operable reversible ratchet device comprises a toothed wheel 10 and a handle which carries a pawl 16 which can be pivoted such that the device can be operated in either directions. A handle support 12 covers the wheel 10 and has a semi-tubular extension 12a. A tube 13 fits in the extension 12a and acts as a support for a handgrip 14. The handgrip is held in one of two rotational positions relative to the extension 12a by a projection (12b), Fig. 2 (not shown), on the extension engaging with one of two recesses in the handgrip. The axis of the pawl need not be at right angles to the axis of the wheel 10.
