Abstract

151,228. Joy, J. F. March 11, 1919. Feeding-devices for conveyers; gathering- mechanism.-Relates to gathering-mechanism particularly for coal-loading machines and especially for machines described in Specification 151,030. The gathering-arms 48 are each moved positively in the fixed non-circular orbital path shown in broken lines to gather the material on to a plate 11. Each arm is knuckle-jointed to a hub member 41 mounted on a stub shaft 39 projecting from a disk 22 and provided with a projection 42 in which the end of a guide-rod 43 is received. The guide-rod passes through a swivelling socket member 44 on a fixed part of the machine. Each disk 22 is mounted on a stub., shaft secured to the base-plate of the gathering- device and is provided on its underside with bevelled gear teeth which mesh with a gear freely mounted on the power shaft 9. This latter gear can be coupled to the shaft by a clutch, the actuating mechanism of which is connected by a rod 33 to operating handles. The points of the arms 48 and the cutter teeth 55 are detachable.
