Abstract

151,184. Mount, L. le B. Nov. 28, 1919. Glass furnaces.-A melting furnace of the kind described in Specification 18417/07 has the glass outlets i formed in raised portions j of the tank bottom adjacent the recuperator, thus permitting the mould of a glass-bottle machine to be positioned beneath them. The setting of the recuperator tubes m is arranged as shown to cause the waste gases to flow to and fro through them; air from passages d beneath the hearth passes up between the tubes and is further heated in passages f in the furnace crown beneath waste-gas passages g. According to the Provisional Specification, the glass flows under a bridge to the outlets.
