Abstract

151,133. Armstrong Siddeley Motors, Ltd., and Farren, W. S. July 23, 1919. Double hinges for control surfaces of aircraft, comprising hinging-strips arranged in pairs so that the movable surface can pivot about either edge, are formed in three parts consisting of a link A, preferably of strip material, and two anchor plates A<2>, A<3> connected together by removable hinge pins A<4>. The parts may be formed of relatively thin metal to reduce the gap at the joint. The gap may be further reduced by recessing the meeting faces to receive the hinges, or an equivalent result may be obtained by attaching projecting lips B<5>, C<5> along the edges of the faces.
