Abstract

1508787 Mining machines PITCRAFT Ltd 16 Dec 1975 [5 April 1975] 14083/75 Heading E1F [Also in Division B7] In a mining machine 1, an underframe 2 is moved along an armoured flexible conveyor 3 by an endless chain 20 engaging fixed or reciprocable pegs 21 or abutment surfaces carried by rack bars 23 mounted on support plates 24, the chain being driven by a motor 12 through a transmission 14 to 19 which extends upwardly within the width of the underframe. The transmission includes an output shaft 14 driving a sprocket 15 which, through an endless chain 16, drives a sprocket 17 mounted on a shaft 18, the latter having a sprocket 19 for driving the endless chain 20. An idler sprocket 37 on a shaft 36 is provided on the underframe so that the chain 20 runs adjacent the rack bars. In another embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown), the chains 16 and 20 are replaced by toothed gears and the shafts 18 and 36 carry a drive sprocket, the teeth of which engage pockets or fixed pegs provided in or carried by the rack bars 23. The support plates 24 carry an electrical power supply conduit 25 having a flexible sealing means displaceable by an arm extending from the machine, and a clevis rail 28 to which is attached a relay bar of a double acting advancing ram located in the base member of a hydraulic, self - advancing roof support.
