Abstract

1508636 Ultrasonic fluid flowmeters UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 7 Oct 1976 [14 July 1975] 29517/75 Addition to 1422791 Heading GIG In an ultrasonic fluid flowmeter as described in the Parent Specification, pulses are produced at the difference frequency between the two VFO's and are counted by an up/down counter 67 whose direction of counting is determined by the output of circuitry which determines which of the two VFO's has the greater frequency. As shown, AND gates 61, 63 and 65 determine coincidences between pulses B derived from the output of one VFO and pulses A2, Al and A3 respectively derived from the output of the other VFO, the pulses on output 64 of flip-flop 62 being at the difference frequency and the output of flip-flop 66 determining the direction of counting. Means may be provided for reversing the setting of the counter and for displaying a negative symbol when the counter counts below zero.
