Abstract

1506310 Web roll stands REED PAPER & PACKAGING Ltd 16 July 1976 [16 July 1975] 29715/76 Heading B8R A web roll stand comprises a frame having jacks driven jointly to raise a web roll 31, Fig. 1, and a counter-poise frame having a pair of arms 52 mounted pivotally for movement towards and away from the periphery of the web roll 31, the arms supporting means for registering the web roll transversely and means for tensioning the web and preventing the roll from over-running. The jacks comprise screws 21, Fig. 2, provided at their upper extremities with sprockets 37 engaging chains 42 which are connected to a drive-shaft 44. The screws also support hooks 29 carrying the ends of web roll shaft 30. The counter-poise frame carries a shaft 55 having a pair of freely rotatable rollers 80 and transverse registering brackets 84, mounted axially adjustably and supporting either braking pads 87 used for heavy rolls or rollers 86 used for braking light-weight rolls.
