Abstract

150,627. Kobzy, S. Feb. 23, 1920. Indicators; switches, quick-break, with compound movement. Relates to switches of the kind in which the switch arm is adapted to swing on both a vertical and horizontal axis in order to control a number of circuits, consists in an insulating-base 5 carrying a casing 20 and a vertical metal stem 11 swivelled therein, the stem being connected to the binding post 14, and a switch arm 16, pivoted on a horizontal pivot in a bifurcation at the top of the swivelled stem and maintained normally in the elevated position by a spring-pressed washer 17 on the stem. The handle of the contact member extends through a T-shaped slot in the casing which permits the contact member to be pressed down about the horizontal pivot into bridging engagement with the contacts 23, 24 or to be swung in either direction laterally about the vertical stem into' engagement with contacts 31 or 32. The switch controls the circuits of appliances, such as signal arms, on an automobile, and a lamp mounted on the casing is included in each circuit to indicate that the switch is working properly. The switch casing is provided with ears for securing it to the steering-post which also earths the casing.
