431,912. Snap-action switches; plug couplings combined with switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Dec. 28, 1934, No. 37200. Convention date, Dec. 28, 1933. [Class 38 (v)] [See also Group XXXVI] In electric switch plugs or the like wherein a continuous conducting strap 12 connects two terminals or contacts 4, 6 and the two portions 7, 8 of a discontinuous strap between terminals 3, 5 are adapted to be bridged by a contact member 16 when a dolly 14 is actuated, the dolly 14 is of insulating material and is pivotally mounted on a lug 20 projecting from the strap 12 and the strap 12 has a portion 25 fixed to which is an insulating bracket 23 on which one arm of the movable contact 16 is pivoted. A deadcentre spring 17 is arranged between the dolly 14 and the contact-member 16. In the form shown the other arm of the member 16 is pivoted to the base, but in modifications it may be pivoted to another bracket 23 and the dolly 14 may also be supported entirely by the strap 12 instead of partly by the base. The limiting positions of the dolly 14 are determined by the sides of a triangular projection on the dolly engaging the side of the lug 20. The point of the projection forms the point about which the dolly pivots. The Figure shows only one half 1 of the switch body. A complementary portion is adapted to be screwed on top.
