Abstract

1506169 Impact pulverizers HENRY BALFOUR & CO Ltd 23 May 1975 [23 Aug 1974] 37036/74 Heading B2A An impact pulverizer has a casing 2 with inlet, outlet, a shaft 5 supporting a beater or beaters 9 cooperating with anvil means 12. The beater leading edge 22 has a parabolic curve Fig. 5 which cooperates with a corresponding parabolic curve on a respective anvil 12. Thus a wedge-shaped zone A B C is formed between the leading surface of the beater, the periphery of the shaft and the extension of the material supporting surface 23 of the anvil means below the hammer leading surface. This permits breaking to take place close to the shaft. The shaft may include means to blank off a root portion of the or each beater and the beaters may be arranged in a sequence so that immediately adjacent beaters do not act in cyclic succession. The edges 22 of each breaking surface 21 of a beater 9 are lined at 25 Fig. 4 with a hard material the surface 21 being recessed.
