Abstract

1389960 Impact pulverizers; comminuting UNICE MACHINE CO 26 Oct 1973 [27 Oct 1972] 50054/73 Heading B2A An impact pulverizer comprises a rotor 2 in a casing 1 which includes blades 5 rigidly mounted and each comprising a stem portion and fixed beaters 8, a chute 12 on one side of the rotor and beneath the chute a serrated or undefused curved anvil or gate 13 which is yieldingly and adjustably biassed towards the rotor. The blades have sharpened leading edges 7. Material fed via a conveyor 6 is shredded thrown upwards of the chute 12 and comminuted by the beaters 8 as it descends. Tramp material deflects the anvil 13. Discharge is aided by a belt conveyor 20. As described the beaters 8 project laterally of the blades 5. The blades are secured, e.g. rivetted, in blade holders 4 which may e.g. have two blades each. Blade holders are disposed axially along the shaft 3. The anvil may comprise anvil bars spaced and parallel to the rotor axis. The conveyor 6 can operate in the direction of arrow 24 with mill casing 1 closed at 26. The shredding function is then disabled.
