Abstract

150,363. Butler, F. G. J. Jan. 16, 1918. Fixed-abutment type; working-fluid supply.- In a rotary internal-combustion engine or pump of the type in which expanding and contracting chambers are formed between and by the action of revolving elements of spiral section which enter gear with one another, the revolving elements H, K are shaped, as shown, of concave and convex axes of circles. Contact at two points is always made, and a continually increasing or decreasing space is formed between the revolving elements. When an engine and a compressor are arranged' side by side, fluid is drawn into the compressor and forced towards the centre into a comparatively small space which is in communication with the combustion and transfer pocket C. The fluid is then fired and transferred to the cylinder in which. the opposite cycle of operations takes place.
