Abstract

1501856 Caps for containers CROWN CORK CO (MALAYA) Ltd 31 Jan 1975 [2 Nov 1973] 51022/73 Heading B8T Bottle closures, e.g. crown caps, are manufactured by applying to a sheet of material, e.g. metal, a coating of a high solids low adhesion vinyl material at a preferred film weight of between 7.5 and 9À0 grams per square metre, curing the coated sheet, e.g. at a temperature between 380‹ and 410‹ F. for 10 minutes, printing an inked image on the sheet and curing the ink, e.g. at a temperature between 290‹ and 310‹ F. for 15 minutes, stamping a bottle cap shell, embracing the image, from the sheet, and lining the bottle cap shell-with a removable liner such that the ink of the image is transferred from the coating to the adjacent surface of the liner. The liner may be formed from polyethylene, vinyl acetate compounds or foamed polyvinyl chloride in which case the liner may be cured at a temperature between 410‹ and 420‹ F. for one minute.
