Abstract
1500191 Assembling thermal regenerators SVENSKA ROTOR MASKINER AB 10 Jan 1975 [17 Jan 1974] 1107/75 Heading B3A [Also in Division F4] In a method of constructing a rotor for a rotary regenerative heat exchanger, a horizontally disposed rotor post 12 is rotatably supported on a pair of spaced-apart support bearings 14 to permit a plurality of sector-shaped baskets 22 each containing heat absorbent material 18 to be pivotally attached to the post 12 via couplings 26 one at a time until the rotor assembly is complete. After the addition of each sector-shaped basket, the rotor post is permitted to rotate in its bearings until a state of equilibrium is achieved. The radial outer ends of the sector-shaped baskets are loosely connected to one another via bolts 54 as the rotor is built up, all the loose connections being uniformly tightened after the rotor assembly is complete.
