Abstract

1499048 Expansion joints CENTRE SCIENTIFIQUE ET TECHNIQUE DU BATIMENT 26 Sept 1975 [1 Oct 1974] 39483/75 Heading F2G An expansion coupling for interposition between tubes 1a, 1b of plastics material comprises a tube 6 of rubber or elastomeric material fastened at each of its ends, as by sticking to a rigid bush 7, 8, with the ends of the tube 6 folded back and held in place in ferrules 11, 12 on the ends of the tubes 1a, 1b the tube 6 and the bushes 7, 8 being disposed within a rigid sleeve 16 against which the flexible tube 6 is supported the sleeve 16 being secured to the bush 8 at one end, its other end being slidable with respect to the bush 7. Flexible reinforcing members 9, 10 on the bushes 7, 8 support the tube 6 at the point where it contacts the bushes. The coupling is shown in its expanded state and it may be held prestressed in such state for connection to the tubes 1a, 1b by a removable annular bush (not shown) interposed between the ferrule 11 and the free end of the sleeve 16.
