149,782. Marclen Pumps, Ltd., and Doherty, P. S. May 20, 1919. Regulating.-A feed tank A is placed above the impeller C and is provided with vanes K to guide a float valve J to regulate the supply of liquid from the pipe I. This pipe communicates with an annular chamber H in a cover G, the discharge orifices of the chamber being at its lower side. The top of the cover G is dished so that any liquid that rises between the cover and the shaft D is caught and can flow down between the valve and the shaft to the tank. In a modification, the chamber H has discharge orifices both in its upper and lower sides. In another modification, the valve J is closed at the bottom and is of bottle shape, and the discharge orifices are in a coned surface below the chamber H.
