Abstract

157,858. Deutrich, J. Dec. 11, 1918, [Convention date]. Liquid fuel, supplying.-The fuel level in an open container c supplying the nozzle d is maintained at about the level of the nozzle orifice bv means of a tube e having perforations i which are sealed when the fuel reaches the desired level, the flow of air to a container a supplying the container c being thus interrupted. The container a is supplied from a float-chamber h through an automatic valve p, the fuel being drawn from a supply tank t to the chamber h through a pipe g by suction transmitted from the induction pipe f through a pipe provided with a non-return valve m. The three containers a, c, h are arranged at approximately the same level. The tank t may be arranged above or below the chamber h, and the pipe g may be provided with an air opening r. The rise of the float n opens a valve o in a pipe k opening into the container a, the pressures in the upper parts of the chamber h and container a being thus equalized, the valve p opens, and fuel flows from the chamber h into the container a. In a modification, the chamber h is omitted, the float being mounted in the container a and provided on its upper surface with a valve which shuts off the suction pipe l when the float rises.
