Abstract

1497583 Resistors STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 18 Nov 1975 47432/75 Heading H1S A thin film resistance element 2 vapourdeposited on a substrate 4, e.g. glass, has deposited thereover a conductive contact layer 3, the interface between the two being covered by a second resistive film 9, which may be of the same material as element 2, to reduce the effects of etching at the interface. Regions (10, Fig. 5, not shown) of layer 3 may be left uncovered by film 9 to permit the external electrical connections to be soldered thereto. The resistance material may be one or more of nickel, chromium, tantalum, titanium, cobalt, molybdenum and zirconium diboride. Layer 3 may be of gold, palladium, aluminium, copper, platinum, silver or nickel. The second resistive film 9 may be protected by a layer of glass, SiO, SO 2 or Si 3 N 4 .
