Abstract

1495880 Rotary switches STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 21 May 1976 20974/76 Heading H1N In a rotary wafer switch assembly a circular printed circuit board 007 is attached to each rotor 002 and engages a coplanar surface of a fixed annular body 001 associated with each rotor 002 and carrying fixed annular printed circuit board 006, electrical connection between the boards being obtained by spring contacts 005 mounted in apertures in the annular body 001. The contacts 005 may be coil springs (shown) with their axes arranged radially of the rotor 002 or may comprise pairs of plungers or balls with springs arranged between them. A plurality of contact apertures (201), Fig. 2 (not shown), may be arranged radially spaced for selective insertion of one or more contacts 005 at each operative position. Each rotor has a detented operative position determined by spring loaded balls 104 urged radially into recesses (101) in the rotor 002 or annular body 001. The rotors 002 may be arranged in pairs for driving from concentric shafts 012, 013, 014. Bolts 022 hold the switches together and extend through a front plate 010 having lugs 410 for mounting on a base-plate.
