Abstract

1492954 Mechanical switches MITSUBISHI DENKI KK 46127/74 Heading H1N A diverter switch for on-load switching between two taps of a transformer winding or the like comprises a main current-carrying fixed contact 10 connected to one tap 3, a main current-carrying fixed contact 5 connected to the other tap 2, a pair of main spring-loaded contacts 11 and 6 connected respectively to contacts 10 and 5, a resistant fixed contact 14 connected through a resistor 12 to said one tap 3, a resistant spring-loaded contact 13 connected to contact 14, an elongate common fixed contact 15, and a roller contact 20 movable across the contacts in continuous contact with common contact 15 and in selective contact with the remaining contacts in sequence; wherein the resistant fixed contact 14 overlaps the main contact 10, and each spring-loaded contact overlaps the fixed contact to which it is connected and also the fixed contact next in sequence to the last-mentioned fixed contact in the direction of movement of the roller contact. The spring-loaded contacts rock as the roller 20 passes over them (Fig. 3, not shown) and are provided with arc-resistant tips 30 of coppertungsten alloy. A second resistant fixed contact (9, Fig. 1, not shown) with a second resistant spring-loaded contact (8) may be connected to tap 2 via a resistor (7), the fixed contact (9) overlapping the main fixed contact 5. In this arrangement the spring-loaded contacts 13 and 6 are preferably on one line parallel to the common contact 15 while the spring-loaded contacts 11 and (8) are on another line also parallel to contact 15.
