Abstract

1492817 Offshore platforms JAMES G BROWN & ASSOCIATES INC 21 Jan 1975 [22 Jan 1974] 2659/75 Heading E1H A self-elevating marine platform assembly comprises a main hull 11 to carry cargo, machinery and living quarters, and a number of, e.g. three, auxiliary hulls 12, 13, 14 separate from and welded to, the main hull 11, each auxiliary hull having a recess 15 for an elevator 16 and vertically extending leg 17, surrounded by a tank which can be ballasted so that, when flooded, the combined weight provides the required load to maintain the platform stable. The auxiliary tanks can be manufactured separately, and floated to a site to be joined to the main hull, Fig. 6 not shown. The main hull comprises intermediate decks (51) and (52), Fig. 5 not shown. The plan shape of the auxiliary tanks can be semi-circular, trapezoidal, hyperbolic, or parabolic.
