Abstract

149,163. Posner, A., Posner, M., and Williams, T. C. Nov. 20, 1919. Interconnecting guard with starting-gear. - A guard frame for the tools of a press is adapted to be raised by a hand-lever, and the lever when the guard is raised, causes the release of the clutch and prevents the press from being re-started by the treadle until the guard is lowered into the protecting position. In the form shown, an operating-handle 17, 24 linked to the guard frame 6 is provided with a cam-surface 19 bearing on the end of a spring-controlled rod 20. When the handle is operated to raise the guard, it raises the rod 20 and brings the lever 12 before the projection 16 for releasing the clutch 2. The press cannot be re-started by the treadle 9 until the guard is lowered by the handle. The guard may be provided with a transparent front 7.
