270,896. Clements, G. F. May 5, 1926. Percussive hand tools.-A riveting or chipping hammer comprises a tup or plunger b driven forward by a spring e in a cylinder c and retracted by a rocking sliding lever f pivoted to a driving- wheel h and carried by a movable pivot j. The pivot is mounted on a lever k and by the action of a spring k<2> is normally depressed so that the lever f is clear of the trip. The lever k can however be depressed by means of a thumb-piece k<1>, so as to start the tool, variation of the position of the pivot also altering the point of the rearward stroke at which the tup is released. The casing of the tool is split longitudinally.
