Percussive hand tools.- A mechanical hammer for use in stone works, foundries, &c. comprises a member 4 reciprocated through the medium of springs 9, 10 by a crank and connecting rod or the equivalent. The connecting rod 3 driven by an eccentric 2 on the shaft 1 is screwed into a ball &c. 3<1> disposed between washers 7, 8 backed by the springs. The member 4 has a hollow head '5 which delivers blows to the tool mounted in the socket 6. The device is contained in a casing A with handle B, the front portion A<1> having an air vent 11. The connecting rod may be replaced by a slide having rollers in con. tact with the eccentric.
