Power hammers. - The hammer described in the parent Specification is provided with hand or power operated means for lifting and holding the tup clear of the anvil. The hammer lever e can be raised by a roller on a lever a<1> moved by a hand lever a<2> into the full-line position where it is retained against a stop a<4> by the weight of the tup h &c. When the machine is started and the tup lifted by its cam j a spring a<3> pulls the roller into the inoperative position. Instead of this device the cam may be formed with a circular bevelled collar j<1>, Fig. 3, which raises the lever e when the cam-adjusting treadle p is released. Reducing gearing c<1>, c<2> and a rebound spring b<1> may be provided.
