Abstract

1490916 Roofing structure CARROLL RESEARCH INC 5 March 1975 9063/75 Heading E1W An insulating roofing structure comprises gypsum plaster board 12 laid on roof supports 11, a layer of rigid synthetic foam 13 having holes 18 which comprise more than 5% of the total area, and a layer of cast in situ gypsum plaster 15 which extends through the holes 18. The area of the holes is between 5 and 20% of the total area. The foam is from 1 to 4 inches thick and the gypsum plaster is from 1 to 3 inches thick. The structure may be water proofed by alternate layers of roofing felt and asphalt 16 and finished with a wearing surface 17 of tar and gravel. The foam may be selected from styrene-maleic anhydride, phenol formaldehyde, polystyrene, polyurethane, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride and copolymers with polyvinyl acetate, expoxy, urea formaldehyde, acrylic, and polyisocyanurate resins.
