Abstract

149,082. Johnson, C., and Hunt, W. T. May 13, 1919. Separators.-The separator is arranged within the boiler and is of the type in which the steam flows radially inward through tortuous passages formed by baffles. The separator comprises top and bottom plates a, c, Fig. 2, preferably octagonal in plan, the top plate having a central outlet b for the steam. The bottom plate is conical in shape and is connected to a bent pipe i extending below the water level in the boiler. The plates a, c are separated bv block of tubes f, which are preferably rectangular in cross section and formed of sheets of corrugated metal soldered together as shown in Fig. 4. The tubes may be slotted as shown, or perforated, in such a manner that the steam is forced to take a tortuous path in passing radially inwards to the outlet b.
