Abstract

147,382. Hunter, S., and Hunter, H. Oct. 21, 1919. Separators.-A separator for removing oil and condensed water from steam comprises a casing containing a baffle element consisting of two sets of vertical parallel plates c, e<1> arranged at right-angles as shown, and diagonally to the general direction of the steam flow. The plates are perforated at g so that each compartment thus formed has a perforated corner and an opposite imperforate corner, and the steam is thus compelled to follow a tortuous course as indicated by the arrows. The oil and water are thus trapped in the imperforate corners and run down the plates on to an inclined floor from which they are drained away. The plates e, e<1> may be connected together by providing them alternately at the top and bottom with vertical slots which enable them to be interlocked.
