Abstract

1,206,294. Separating oil/gas/foam mixtures. COMBUSTION ENG. Inc. 27 Sept., 1967, No. 44046/67. Headings B1M and B1T. Oil/gas foam mixtures from oil wells are separated into oil and gas by passing the mixture via inlet 2 through momentum absorption baffles 10 into the bottom of tank 1 where as the mixture flows towards liquid outlet 4 some of the oil and all of the foam and gas passes through liquid/gas separation 12 and 13 which comprise corrugated plates 42 sandwiched between sloping flat plates 39 and 40. The oil separates from the mixture and agglomerates on the sides of the trough of the corrugations and the separated oil leaves the troughs via apertures 48 and travels down the sloping bottom plate 40 to the bottom of the tank in a direction generally transverse to the generally longitudinal path of the mixture. Any residual liquid entrained in the gas is removed by separators 12 and 13. In the embodiment of Figs. 8-10 (not shown) apertures (55A) are also formed in the crests of the corrugations.
