Cooling liquids by direct contact with liquids.- Heat is exchanged between two immiscible liquids of different densities by passing them in superposed layers in opposite directions. The heavier flows downwards through a receptacle a over a series of partitions b from the opening f to the exit g. The lighter liquid enters at d and passes upwards to the exit e.
