Abstract

4331. McNeil, J. March 2. Steam separators.-In apparatus for separating oil and water from exhaust steam, the inlet and outlet orifices B, C of an horizontal cylindrical vessel A are connected by a pipe E having a centrally-disposed partition D, on opposite sides of which are apertures G, B placed on opposite sides of the centre line of a transverse section, as shown in Fig. 2. An inclined longitudinal baffle-plate J compels the steam passing through the aperture G to take a circuitous course to the aperture H leading to the outlet orifice. A collecting-chamber K is formed in the bottom of the vessel, and a baffle-plate M, supported on lugs, as shown, is placed over it. The baffle-plates M, J may be perforated.
