Abstract

1490530 Pipe couplings G HARRISON 24 Dec 1974 55815/74 Heading F2G A coupling sleeve 10 to receive at least one pipe in engagement therewith comprises a socket portion 11, a resilient annular seal 15 mounted at the outer end 17 of the socket portion 11 having a radially inner portion 19 engageable with the pipe to be coupled and a wedge sectioned radially outer portion 24 to co-operate with the end 17 of the socket 11 and with the inner surface of an annular locking ring 16 which axially compresses and retains the seal 15 when engaged by snap-fitting over an outwardly extending annular abutment 25 of the socket 11. In a second embodiment abutment 25 may be replaced by two circumferential annular locking ribs, the locking ring 16 incorporating a matching inner surface to co-operate therewith by snap fitting.
