Abstract

1490172 Rollers INST MEKHANIKI METALLOPOLIMERNYKH SISTEM AKAD NAUK BELORUS SSR 3 Dec 1975 49725/75 Heading F2U [Also in Division B3] A roller for applying pressure to an abrasive belt of a grinding and polishing machine comprises rings 2 of resiliently flexible material having teeth 7 inclined to the radius and pointing in the same circumferential direction, the teeth decreasing in cross-section towards their outer ends and the teeth of adjacent rings being angularly staggered. The rings may be made of plastics with teeth of profile shown in Figs. 2, 3 and 4. Pairs of teeth may be joined to form cavities (9), Fig. 5 (not shown), in which rubber shock-absorbing inserts (10), Fig. 6 (not shown), may be provided. Metal washers (11) with lugs (12), Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown), may be interposed between the rings. Electrostatic charges may be removed by conductors (13), Figs. 9 and 10, of metal or a plastics composition.
